The data is coming first to Tinder, but will probably be in other Match Group apps as well.
The owner of massive dating apps Tinder and Match has just announced a new partnership to help keep its users safe. Match Group, which owns Tinder, Match, OK Cupid, Hinge and several other services, has made an investment in Garbo, a non-profit, female-founded background check platform. As part of the deal, Garbo’s platform will be available to people using Match Group apps, starting with Tinder later this year.
If you’re not familiar with Garbo, it was founded by Kathryn Kosmides, a “survivor of gender-based violence” who wanted to make it easier to find information about people you may connect with online. Garbo’s platform aggregates numerous data sources to provide details on an individual, including “arrests, convictions, restraining orders, harassment, and other violent crimes.” The organization’s site says that often times, you don’t even need a last time to find some details on an individual — a first name and phone number will work.

When companies do something like this, it always makes me wonder who was in charge that did something so stupid? Just waiting now for them to get sued into oblivion for false hits.
So, if you don’t have a HALO on top of your head in today’s society, you’re deemed a potentially dangerous individual and a throwaway outcast. Okay then..
Dating sites the holier than club. Spending time on the people who have been caught while letting other crimes like cat fishing flourish. Truly beware the Ides of March because society has no problem stabbing you in the back and banish you for the end of time.
So, they want to be like Homefacts and just have the data available for someone’s leisurely reading without an assessment of how the data can be wrongly interpreted? Would this run afoul of the CA Megan Site rules?
Are we all naked today? or do we all want to know about others even ones’ history. Sure much of this computer debauchery is a nakedness on government by these authorities that induce by this con or who is the father of all lies. Correction has many methods to deceive one in these matters.
Should two wrongs make a right? Should knowing about others thru a database be a prerequisite to take advantage of another. This registry has many flaws and authorities are playing with fire. Sure man in his own wisdom wants to understand all this but the truth is in the game of this registry deception induced by this computer face abomination with this enticement.
Who breaks down another to take an advantage of another or is doing evil for evil the common norm today. Isn’t the main purpose of this ACSOL group is to get some truth about these registry issues or who is playing the Hitchcock in this psycho movie drama in this deceptive way. I hope this article sheds some light on this epidemic.
Who is covering up in this vain or blind justice of evil or who is bearing the sword in vain vaniety of justice. Should we all say lying for a good cause is merited in this vain and deceptive ways. So is lying for a good cause the right thing to do or who is a sin justifier today.
watch how fast their subscriber base drops !! When they serve LESS ads and get less revenue they will see it was a stupid idea !
I want background checks on my barista. I don’t want some frustrated ex Pizza Hut employee that was fired for spitting on pizzas doing the same in my Mocha because I didn’t tip enough!
And how about that homeless woman I give sandwiches to. How can I be sure she is REALLY homeless.
I gave Tinder a try three times.
1. Just a regular profile like I was still an American citizen. Got two dates with “open-minded progressive” woman who swore she was the least judgmental woman on the planet. After the second date went so well, she ran a background check on me and dumped me with malice and more judgment than I ever got from my victim!
okay, lesson learned….
2. Placed in my profile that I was a sex offender. I got more matches than from the previous profile. After asking about my crime, two of the women asked me to tell them the graphic details, they wanted to get off on my crime. Kinky, but again, if a woman is excited by my crime, she is a woman I should avoid. Someone must have reported me and Tinder deleted me.
3. Another regular profile and this time I just stated that I had a checkered past and on paper I would not be a good catch. No matches after a few months, I took down my profile.
I realized that the best woman for me is a woman who’s standards prevent her from being with someone like me. A woman who would want me, is most likely a woman who I should not be with.
I got a dog. I am happy.
